The Wines
1. 2014 Moillard “Les Violettes” Cotes du Rhone Blanc (Southern Rhone Valley, France) – Moillard crafts honest, easy-going wines that don’t break the bank, and their Cotes du Rhone Blanc is a super value in rich and spicy white wine. A blend of stainless steel fermented Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier, it is richly fruited and flowing with white floral and spice notes.
2. 2014 Argiolas “Costamolino” Vermentino (Sardinia, Italy) – The Vermentino from Argiolas is consistently regarded by Table Wine and wine press as one of the great white wine values in the world, and the new vintage is no exception. “The 2014 Vermentino di Sardegna Costamolino is a zesty and crisp wine with tangy layers of green sage, citrus and honeydew melon in center stage.” That’s what The Wine Advocate said and we agree!
3. 2013 Moillard “Les Violettes” Cotes du Rhone Rouge (Southern Rhone Valley, France) – Moillard’s red Cotes du Rhone is the quintessential Cotes du Rhone and a fine, low cost option for all of your spring and summer party, cookout, and personal drinking needs. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault, it offers up soft and supple notes of dark cherry, plum, Provencal herbs and a touch of pepper.
4. 2011 Sella E Mosca Cannonau Riserva (Sardinia, Italy) – We love how this producer releases their wines with a bit of age on them, and their 100% Cannonau (aka Grenache) is always full of Old World style and character. Firmly styled and packed with an assortment of balanced berry fruit buttressed by spice, licorice, and grilled herb notes, it is one of the flagship wines of Sardinia.
