I know we typically pour more wines for our Super Saturday Wine Tastings, but this tasting is less about quantity and more about quality. Join us to taste why Napa Valley is one of the best spots in the world to grown and make Cabernet Sauvignon. From richer and more opulent, valley floor Cabs to the more structured and powerful mountain-grown versions, all bases will be covered. And with prices averaging $40+ per bottle, this is a great and inexpensive way to sample some very special wines. Taste, learn, save at Table Wine
All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only.
1. 2015 Scattered Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) – Debut vintage, 97 points from Great Britain’s Decanter, and a stellar value as well. “Roasted herb, coffee, black cherry and blackberry fruit compote on the nose. The palate is rich and concentrated but never heavy, with a lively acidity providing a sense of movement. Tannins are mighty and show that this will blossom with more time.” – Decanter – 97 points
2. 2014 Acumen Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) – From vineyards high atop Atlas Peak, this exudes pure class and sophistication. This full-bodied wine opens with aromas of violets, lavender, fresh rosemary, and espresso. On the palate we find flavors of black cherries, red plums, mountain blueberries, mission figs, and chocolate covered orange peel with sweet clay, freshly turned earth, and pencil shavings giving way to ripe, mouth-coating tannins on the long and powerful finish.
3.2015 Tamber Bey Cabernet Sauvignon “Deux Chevaux Vineyard” (Napa Valley, California) – I was looking for something like the Venge Cabernet Sauvignon, and I found it on my trip to California this past February! This relatively young producer’s single-vineyard Cab literally took my breath away when I tasted it. From benchland vineyards in Yountville, this is rich, creamy, opulent, and hedonistic Cabernet. Perfect with steak, but it doesn’t require food. Wait until you try it!!
4. 2016 Venge Silencieux Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) –This is a special treat, and what we believe to be the top value in premium Napa Cabernet. Kirk Venge makes larger-than-life wines, and his 2016 Silencieux Cabernet is no exception. From the hot and dry 2016 vintage, this one offers up classic notes of cassis, dark cherry, mocha and spicy, toasty oak. The last four vintages of this wine have garnered 94-95 point scores in the Wine Advocate — this one will be no exception!
