The Wines
Prices range from $11 to $13
1. 2013 Vignerons du Mont-Ventoux Blanc “Cuvée de 3 Messes Basses” – This white wine from the Southern Rhone combines several of the native, indigenous grapes of the region to create a wine with gorgeous aromatics, plenty of citrus and tropical fruit, a clean mouth feel and nice depth on the finish.
2. 2012 Chateau d’Oupia Les Heretiques – Chateau d’Oupia is one of the brave and bold producers of the Languedoc, Minervois specifically, who believe in the potential of Carignan. Thus, this 100% Carignan cuvée is fermented half in barrel with a 30 day maceration, and half is made via carbonic maceration, a la Beaujolais. It shows the lovely, dark berry and plummy fruit of Carignan along with some obvious earthy, savory nuancesalong with a smooth and silky palate.
3. 2012 Ercavio Tempranillo Roble – This 100% Tempranillo bottling comes from the dry, flat region of La Mancha in Central Spain. It is fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak for 8 months before bottling. Deep in color, rich and ripe in flavor, and packed with sweet berry fruits and spicy, toasty oak notes, it is a very attractive wine to drink now and over the next 3 to 4 years.
