Saturday, September 23rd from 2-5pm – Steve Nelson of Grapevine Distributors joins us to pour some delicious domestic wines from California and Oregon. It’s Asheville’s best free wine tasting, and you’re invited!
Stop by Table Wine this Saturday to sample some truly special wines from California and Oregon. The fun and funny Steve Nelson joins us to pour the wines and tell the stories. Up first, it’s a lovely and finely detailed Chardonnay from California’s legendary Mount Eden Vineyards. After that, it’s an under-$20 Oregon Pinot Noir that outclasses many that cost twice the price and a rich, juicy, and spicy, Old Vine Zinfandel from Lodi. This tasting is not to be missed! Taste, learn, and save big every Saturday at Table Wine.
All of the featured tasting wines are being offered at 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only! All sales must be tendered by the end of business on Saturday unless other arrangements are made. Email us at josh@tablewineasheville.com with questions.
1. 2014 Mount Eden Vineyards Chardonnay “Old Vines” (Edna Valley, California) – Mount Eden owns the famed Wolff Vineyard in Edna Valley, and this site is home to some of the oldest Chardonnay vines in California. Like their higher end Chardonnays, this is barrel fermented, undergoes full malolactic fermentation, and is aged 8 months before bottling. “Pear, white flowers and sweet spices are all nicely delineated throughout in this super-attractive, mid-weight Chardonnay. Readers will have a hard time finding a better wine for the money.”
Antonio Galloni – Vinous Media – 92 points
Special Tasting Price: $19.99/bottle
2. 2015 Kings Ridge Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – In our opinion, this is the best value Oregon Pinot Noir out there. From the highly acclaimed 2015 vintage, this one comes from various sites throughout the Willamette Valley and is aged for 8 months in French oak before bottling. “Focused on a medium-weight frame, this offers cherry, licorice and wet earth flavors that glide over powdery tannins and into a long and expressive finish.” – Wine Spectator – 89 points
Special Tasting Price: $15.99/bottle
3. 2013 Gen 5 Zinfandel “Old Vines” (Lodi, California) – This fifth generation family estate makes some of the best values coming out of Lodi, and their Old Vine Zinfandel might be their best. Composed of fruit from 2 of their estate vineyards — one is 90 years old and imparts richness and flavor intensity while the other is 20 years old and contributes freshness. “A peppery, dried-herb aroma and rich chocolate and blackberry flavors make a nice combination in this medium- to full-bodied wine. It feels supple, tastes concentrated and has a lingering, jammy finish.” – Wine Enthusiast – 89 points and Best Buy
Special Tasting Price: $11.19/bottle
