Dave's Faves Wine Tasting - Saturday, June 15

Saturday, June 15th from 2-5pm – Join us for our Dave’s Faves Wine Tasting this Saturday. It promises to be a fun and informed tasting featuring some of David’s favorite wines.

Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting – Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking!

If you regularly attend our Saturday tastings, David is the friendly and passionate dude who pours your wines and tells you about them. Usually I pick the wines, but this week I gave David carte blanche to pour whatever he wanted. And I’m quite pleased with the choices he made. You will be too! Want to drink like David? Stop by this Saturday, taste some of his favorite wines, learn about them, and buy them at the best prices in town.

All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only.

1. 2018 M.A.N. Family Vineyards Chenin Blanc (Coastal Regions, South Africa) – Chenin Blanc is by far one of my favorite white grapes yet it’s unfortunately often overlooked. Chenin wines combine the zesty brightness of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio with some of the rich fruit and roundness of Chardonnay. Although its homeland is in France’s Loire Valley, Chenin has been grown on the Cape of South Africa for hundreds of years. The M.A.N. Family’s version is super clean, fresh and tasty plus it’s an incredible value by any standard!

2. 2017 Jean Manciat Mâcon-Charnay ‘Franclieu’ (Burgundy, France) – I’m literally in love with the gorgeous, balanced and satisfying unoaked Chardonnays of the Mâconnais region in Southern Burgundy. Jean Manciat is an artisanal grower/producer located in the village of Charnay with only a few hectares of organically farmed vines. The ‘Franclieu’ bottling comes from his best vineyard of 30+ year old plantings fermented in stainless steel for a crisp white Burgundy that is delightfully fruity, floral and flinty.

3. 2018 Commanderie de Peyrassol ‘La Croix des Templiers’ Rosé (Provence, France) – The rebirth of dry rosé began in Provence in the 1980’s and this delicately fruited, mineral laced style continues to convert skeptics the world over. Refreshing, versatile, food-friendly and delicious, Provençal rosé lives in my refrigerator all year round but it really sings during the hot summer months. Peyrassol is one of the benchmark estates of the region and their La Croix is a lot of wine for the money!

4. 2016 G.D. Vajra Langhe Rosso (Piemonte, Italy) – My mom’s family emigrated from Turin in Northern Italy, so I have a special affinity for the wines of the Piemonte. Vajra’s Langhe Rosso is a great introduction to the region as it’s a blend of the primary local red varietals Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera. Vibrant, fresh and aromatic with medium to light body, this wine is the perfect red for warm weather. Saluti!

5. 2015 Château De Fontenille Bordeaux (Bordeaux, France) – Bordeaux winemakers produce some of the most sought-after wines on the planet and their template of barrel aging Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blends has been emulated all over the world. In a region known for hefty price tags, the Fontenille is a terrific deal and it goes great with summer fare like grilled meats and burgers. Big, bold and beautiful!
