Asheville's Best Wine Tasting! Captivating Wines of North and South America.

Captivating Wines of North and South America

Join us this Friday any time between 4 and 7 p.m. to “wine down” your work week and get your week end off to a good start with the best wine tasting in Asheville! As I said in the introduction, this week end, we’re focusing on the “Wines of the Americas,” and we’ve got a great lineup for you to try this Friday. From Chile and Argentina to Oregon and California, you’ll get to sample a broad range of styles and types of wines of North and South America at a variety of price points, from everyday drinkers to more special occasion bottles. You don’t want to miss it!

We’ll start with the 2013 Undurraga Chardonnay/Riesling, a unique blend that combines the richness and fullness of Chardonnay with brightness and zestiness of Riesling. Don’t worry, it’s dry and it’s absolutely delicious. After that, the 2013 Elk Cove Pinot Gris is one of Oregon’s finest versions of that grape variety. It just received a 91 point score from Wine Enthusiast, and it deserves every single one of those points. Boasting attractive notes of ripe peach, pear, tangerine and spice, this medium to full bodied white absolutely loves salmon and poultry dishes, although we have no problem drinking it without food.

Moving into the reds 2013 Finca Sophenia Altosur Malbec is a wine we think you’re going to like. If you bought and liked this winery’s Cabernet Sauvignon (it was Wine of the Week a couple of week’s ago), do yourself a favor and come try this one. Equally delicious and a great value as well, this full bodied, dark fruited, warm and spicy Malbec is a no-brainer all the way. The second red, the 2010 Baptiste Cuvelier Cuvée del Maule is one of our favorite Chilean reds in the store. The devastating earthquake off the coast of Chile’s Maule region in 2010 shook up more than just the populace. Many winery barrels got tossed, turned, and in many cases broken. Winemaker Baptiste Cuvelier picked from surviving barrels and made the best blend he could, and he did one heckuva’ job, and this wine is drinking incredibly well right now. To finish up, we’ll pour you a wine from California’s oldest family owned and operated winery. The 2011 Gundlach Bundschu Mountain Cuvée is a fun and delicious blend of mainly Merlot and Cab with small amounts of several other grapes. Lush, fruit forward and toasty, this one is loaded with ripe black cherry, blackberry, mocha and spicy oak notes. Come help us celebrate the wines of the America’s this week end — all you have to do is stop by, taste, learn and save this Friday at Table Wine.

Tasting wines are 10% off by the bottle, 15% off if you mix six of them, and 20% off if you mix twelve of them!
