Cabernet Sauvignon Family Reunion - Free On Fridays Wine Tasting

Friday, October 6th from 4-7pm – Join us for a free Cabernet Sauvignon Family Reunion Tasting this Friday! In case you didn’t know, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc are the “parent grapes” of Cabernet Sauvignon. We’ll pour you one of each of those, before we let you sample the 2015 Bench Cabernet Sauvignon, our new Wine of the Week.

It makes sense when you think about it. Cabernet Franc possesses notes of dark berries, pepper, tobacco, and spice, and Sauvignon Blanc is high in acidity and herbal aromatics. When you combine the two, you get Cabernet Sauvignon. Stop by the store and join us on this fun and engaging journey into the roots of Cabernet Sauvignon……..no pun intended. We’ll start with an award winning South African Sauvignon Blanc before we move into a spicy and peppery Cabernet Franc-based red from France. And last, but not least, we’ll pour you a majestic, Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s fun, it’s free, it’s Friday at Table Wine! Stop by, taste, learn, and save.

All of the featured tasting wines are being offered at 20% off by the bottle on tasting day! All sales must be tendered by the end of business on Friday unless other arrangements are made. Email us at josh@tablewineasheville.com with questions.

1. 2017 Bayten Sauvignon Blanc (Constantia, South Africa) – From South Africa’s esteemed Buitenverwachting Estate, this is world-class Sauvignon Blanc at a great price. Typically a 90+ pointer, we’re confident the 2017 will score in a similar fashion. The wine has a pale lemon yellow color and a bouquet reminiscent of green figs with hints of gooseberries and an intrusion of green peppers. The wine is dry, full bodied and has a long lingering finish.

2. 2016 Isle Saint-Pierre Rouge (Rhone Valley, France) – This fun and quaffable French country wine is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, the rarely seen Arinarona, and Petit Verdot. Fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness and purity, it is a medium-bodied, peppery, and fresh red wine for everyday guzzling.

3. 2015 Bench Cabernet Sauvignon (Knights Valley, California) – It’s our new Wine of the Week, and it’s a screaming deal in high-quality, North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. Boasting intense and full aromas and flavors of cassis, blackcurrant, dark chocolate and spice box, it possesses dusty, but fine grained tannins and a long and satisfying finish.
