It was big news when it was announced in early 2021 that the winemaking team from Quilceda Creek, Washington's elite Cabernet producer, would be joining the team at Matthews Winery. No, they didn't make this wine, but I guarantee you they saw the potential of what could be made here when they tasted this wine. It's fantastic!
A blend of fruit from Red Mountain, Royal Slope, and Walla Walla, this is so classy, so refined, and so delicious. Everything is in balance here, and the aromas and flavors just punch way above their "price class." Get in now folks, this is only going to go up in price!

The best wine taster I know is my wife Lynn. We joyfully taste and drink many wines together, and when she tasted this one, she not only loved it, she guessed it would retail for $60+. Trust me, I took some joy in her "mis-calculation," but her palate was as good as ever, as this drinks like a wine in that price range.
It is awesome to catch a winery on the rise, and trust me folks, in just a few years, this bottle of wine will hit retail shelves at $50+. Our distributor put this on a one-week sale, I happily bought 14 cases, and I'm passing the savings on to you all. Once we run through those 14 cases, this will return to its "normal,"' $35 price point. Buy at least 3, but I recommend buying 6 or more. You'll thank me.
"Inviting aromas of blackcurrants, fresh herbs and blackberries. Full-bodied with nice focus and persistence. Silky tannins carry well-ripened black fruit with notes of chocolate and walnut as well. Well structured and long. 75% cabernet sauvignon, 13% cabernet franc, 11% merlot and 1% malbec." - James Suckling
"Sometimes it's about the velvet glove and sometimes it's just the enjoyment of the hammer. Three-quarters varietal, with the rest Cabernet Franc (13%), Merlot (11%) and Malbec, aromas of black fruit, bittersweet chocolate and baking spice lead to rich, full-feeling flavors that show depth, intensity and layering. It's bold but well balanced, with a lingering finish." - Wine Enthusiast
"Classy, elegant, restrained, almost Margaux-like with its balance of ripeness and structure. Gorgeous aromas of red and black currant, dark cherry, cigar tobacco, graphite, vanilla, and brown spices. Relatively supple on the palate, with some sneaky yet well developed tannin and acidity. Very fine, very balanced, drinks like a much more expensive wine. Buy a ton." - Yours Truly
