Let's get right down to business here. Of the 100+ Pinot Grigios that Wine Spectator reviewed from the 2023 vintage, this was their highest-rated. They nailed it with their tasting notes too:
"Elegant, with an appealing, creamy nappe to the texture as it carries notes of ripe pear, peach skin, blood orange peel, green almond and orchard blossoms. A tangy streak of salinity and lively acidity focus and refresh the finely woven flavors and nicely spicy finish."
It's the best Italian Pinot Grigio we stock, and we've got a great price on it. 120 bottles available at deal pricing.

I don't drink a lot of Italian Pinot Grigio, but I've been a longtime fan of the one from Elena Walch. This 5th generation, family-run estate is one of the best in the Alto Adige, Italy's northern-most viticultural zone. Pinot Grigio does special things here....
This Alpine zone that borders Austria gets plenty of sunshine, it has rocky soils, and it enjoys warm days and cool nights, perfect conditions for making rich yet bright white wines. Case in point is Elena Walch's 91-point-rated, lusciously textured, and delicious Pinot Grigio.
What I want to emphasize is that this is Pinot Grigio with texture, depth, and concentration. So many versions are boring, insipid, and leave me wanting a lot more, but this one always leaves me satisfied. It's also the kind of white wine you always want to have chilled and ready sipping with or without food.
One last bit of advice -- don't serve it too cold. Chill it for sure, but let it come up in temp and swirl while doing so. It opens up beautifully to reveal layer after layer of fruit, spice, mineral, and more. Bravo!
