Many of you will remember this label, as it was our best selling red wine of the year last year. The young and highly talented Michel Gassier teams up with superstar wine consultant Philippe Cambie and importer Eric Solomon to construct this wine. The old vineyards (80+ years old to be exact) utilized to construct this wine are located in the village of Visan on the right bank of the Rhone River and the blend in 2011 is 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah.
Right out of the bottle, this is a very attractive wine, but it should keep well for another 3 to 5 years. The color is a vibrant deep ruby and the nose is dominated by rich, ripe raspberry, kirsch and smoky meat. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied and mimics the nose with hyper-ripe flavors of sweet berries, peppery spice and smoky herbs. It is a seamless (aka smooth), sex bomb of a wine that will please the pickiest of wine drinkers.
