Let's get 2025 off to a great start with an absolutely insane deal on a delicious Tempranillo that comes to you at less than $10 and as low as $6.99! Trust me, cheap Tempranillo is something I rarely drink or get excited about, but this is a serious exception to that rule.
The 2022 Protocolo Tinto checks all the boxes for what I consider to be an "extreme value." Family-run estate, old vines, organic and sustainable farming, and most importantly, DELICIOUS! Offering quite "advanced" aromas and flavors at an incredible price, this is unquestionably one of the top red wine values in the Milky Way.
We just took delivery of 28 cases (336 bottles), and that's we have available at deal pricing. Whether you need a solid house red or one to pair with chili, hearty stews, or burgers, pick up a sixer of this!

Spain continues to put out some of the world's greatest wine values, and for over 20 years, Protocolo has led that charge. This was a wine Lynn and I drank a lot of when we moved to Asheville back in 2003. It was cheap ($4.99 then), but it possessed some of the nuances found in much more expensive wines. I'm here to tell you that not much has changed, this is still a ton of wine for the money.
Produced entirely from older Tempranillo vines located in Manchuela, Toro, and Rioja, this is brought up in stainless steel to protect freshness and purity. The '22 is in very fine form, and Lynn and I were frankly blown away by how much it had to offer when we enjoyed a bottle over the Christmas holiday.
Right out of the gate, this smells wonderful. Juicy plum, ripe cherry, toasted spice, mocha, and a hint of dried flowers lead into a smooth and supple palate. Medium-bodied and seamless in texture, there is incredible depth to the flavors, and the finish is long and persistent. I don't know what else to say other than BUY 6!
Even better, this comes from a 4th-generation, passionate, and family-run winery. I can't stress enough how rare that is for wines in this price range. So often, Tempranillos in this price range are nothing more than superficial fruit bombs that taste fake and processed. These are wines made with the "last pick" of fruit, and they are "adjusted" in the laboratory with various additives and short-cuts. These finished "Franken-Wines" taste grapey and gross, and we avoid them like the plague.
This might sound too good to be true, but I promise you that's not the case. Finding values of this sort is hard work folks -- we have to taste a lot of bad wines before we find the Protocolos of the world....so you don't have to : )
