The Zucccardi family are one of Argentina's largest and best producers. Much like Catena, all of their wines, from their entry-level offerings to their top shelf trophy wines, are excellent. Their entry level 'Serie A' Malbec is excellent this vintage, and while it doesn't offer loads of complexity, it excels at showcasing pure varietal character.
Produced from their estate vineyards in the Uco Valley, all of the fruit was hand harvested and sorted, and the fermentation was carried out with native yeasts. The finished wine turned out splendidly, and it's amazing to me that they're able to achieve this level of quality when they make 50,000 cases per year.
I find it to be just downright delicious, and I think you're going to love our price on this stellar Malbec.
2023 Zuccardi Serie A Malbec -- Why should you buy it?
- Zuccardi keeps bringing in the awards, and that's driven by their commitment to quality over quantity. Named New World Winery of the Year in 2022 by Wine Enthusiast, they possess some of the best and healthiest vineyards in the world.
- This wine drinks way above its humble price point. Delivering classic Uco Valley notes of fresh red fruits, flowers, tobacco, spice box, and bittersweet chocolate, it's soft, velvety, and fine-grained.
- In the "playing field" of sub-$20 Malbecs, I don't think you'll find a better one than this. It smells great, tastes great, and it would be a joyful companion to pretty much anything off the grill.
This is a great wine to have on-hand for spring and summer parties, cook-outs, and other casual occasions.
