Campet Ste Marie Pinot Noir 2023

The Prettiest Little French Pinot Noir: 2023 Campet Ste Marie Pinot Noir

Campet Ste Marie Pinot Noir

A candidate for the best Pinot Noir value in the world, the 2023 Campet Ste Marie delivers incredible style, nuance, and texture for less than $15! I love this little wine and drink it often at home, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Wine Enthusiast recently gave it 90 points.

Coming primarily from Limoux, in the Southwestern Languedoc, this cooler part of the region in the foothills of the Pyreness, has long enjoyed a reputation for producing the best French Pinot Noirs outside of Burgundy. Even better, you can buy 2-3 bottles of this for what you'd have to pay for many entry-level, village Red Burgundies.

We've got 10 cases (120 bottles) in stock and on deal. Once those are gone, the wine returns to its regular (and still very fair) price.

2023 Campet Ste Marie Pinot Noir -- Why should you buy it?

  • 90 points from Wine Enthusiast, and I concur with their tasting notes. "Ripe black plum, blackberry, hints of dried herbs, violet blossom and Darjeeling tea aromas waft from your glass. The palate indulges a softness of texture that integrates slightly grippy tannins into the fold and presents as a unified whole."
  • Pinot Noir and Value are two terms that don't go together very often, but they do in this one. This fickle, grape is one of the most challenging to grow. It "prefers" cooler climates, and its naturally thin skin makes it susceptible to mildew, rot, frost, and wind.
  • Produced from 30-year-old, sustainably farmed "campets" (hilly vineyards), this showcases all of Pinot Noir's classic virtues. Medium-bodied, silky-textured, and elegant on the palate, it's perfect to have around the house for daily drinking.
