2024 Domaine Schaller Petit Chablis

The Next Chablis Superstar: 2024 Domaine Schaller Petit Chablis

When we opened Domaine Schaller's Petit Chablis last week, I wasn't expecting it to taste this good, but boy, was I wrong. Here's a wine that shows classic Chablis pedigree and then some.

Bright, crisp, mineral-driven, and refreshing, it's one of the top White Burgundy values in the store, and it's made by one of the most underrated producers in the appellation. I'm not kidding folks, this tastes eerily similar to Schaller's "regular" Chablis that so many of you love, but it costs substantially less.

How does $22.99 per bottle sound? That's over 20% off the regular and very fair price of $28.99. Less than $25 for wonderful white Burgundy? Sometimes I amaze myself 😊

Domaine Schaller Petit Chablis

So, what exactly is Petit Chablis? Despite the name, it's not "little Chablis," it's a separate appellation within the Chablis region, with vineyards planted on the higher slopes and plateaus surrounding the village. The wines are typically lighter, fresher, and more approachable than classic Chablis, but thanks to warmer growing seasons and a new generation of quality-minded growers, Petit Chablis has never been better.

Best of all, it remains one of Burgundy's greatest values, and that becomes abundantly apparent when you get this wine into your glass. Father and son Laurent and Camille Schaller obviously know what they're doing, and this is the best rendition of Petit Chablis I've ever had. Bright, energetic, and vibrant, it delivers classic notes of crunchy green apple, lemon, white flowers, and crushed rock.

The palate is fresh, focused, and driven by the sort of chalky minerality that makes Chablis so distinctive. If you're looking for a classic, no-oak Chardonnay that overdelivers in every way, this is your bottle. It's also another reminder that Domaine Schaller is one of the most exciting young estates in Chablis.

I can guarantee you this stuff is going to fly out of the store at a rapid pace and I've got just 7 cases available at deal pricing through August 1st. You know what to do next.
