Caprili was one of the original 20 estates of Brunello di Montalcino, and their Ilex Toscana Rosso is a ridiculous find in truly artisan, estate-grown Sangiovese Grosso. The Grosso clone (aka Brunello) of Sangiovese gives us bigger, more firmly structured, and darker fruited reds.

- It's a ton of wine for the money! Produced from Caprili's younger vines that will eventually go into their Brunello bottlings, it's a serious bottle of Tuscan red at an insane price.
- It's delicious too. Offering up medium-bodied notes of dark cherry, spiced plum, violet, and crushed rock, there's a good degree of complexity here. While you won't mistake it for Caprili's Brunello, it's still impressive stuff.
- All Caprili's wines come from their own organic vineyards. This is 100% estate-grown, and it is vinified using ambient and indigenous yeasts. That's a rarity at this price point!
