Vincent Careme was born in Vouvray, and he is the mastermind of this highly-regarded, certified organic estate. Together with his partner Tania, they own 42 acres of vineyards spread through three different villages of the AOC. The couple's 'Spring' Vouvray is both a great introduction to the house style at Careme as well as a fantastic entry into the world of dry, Loire Valley Chenin Blanc.
In the words of Master of Wine Jancis Robinson, "This really does taste like the essence of spring. With its tangy acidity, meaty intensity and pure undertow of wild flowers and apple skins, it would make a lovely aperitif." Jancis does not miss, and her notes are spot-on.
2021 Vincent Careme 'Spring' Vouvray Sec -- Here's why you should buy it:
- With spring-like weather in the air (currently), this bright, crisp, dry, and delicious white is what you want in your glass.
- Every vintage of this wine back to 2015 has scored 90+ points with Wine Spectator! That's a serious streak, and we predict the '21 will receive similar marks.
- It's one of the top DRY Vouvray values in the marketplace. It really showcases the virtues of Chenin Blanc crafted by a highly-talented and knowledgeable vigneron.
- Fermented in tank with native yeasts and aged on the lees for 6 months, the finished wine balances juicy and fleshy citrus and orchard fruits with zesty acids and abundant minerality.
