Querceto's brand new Rosso is fabulous, and it's also one of the top Tuscan red wine values we stock.
From this highly-regarded Chianti Classico estate, based in Greve, comes this luscious, supple, and classy Tuscan red. Quite noble and complete, especially when you consider the price, it's about as pleasure-bent as they come.
Composed of 50% Syrah, 25% Merlot, and 25% Sangiovese aged in French oak for 8 months, it's my pick for the top Super Tuscan value of 2023!

I tasted this last week with my buddy Richard McKinney of Tryon Distributing, and I was blown away. Classic and highly-respected estate, true Super Tuscan style and poise, less than $20? Yep, yep, and yep again! This is that rare gem of a wine that "behaves" like a more expensive one.
The blend really works well here. The Syrah is "driving the bus" and contributes gorgeous notes of dark raspberry, blackberry, savory rosemary, and gentle forest floor. The Merlot adds plummy opulence and a silky texture, and the Sangiovese contributes red fruits and just enough acidity to keep this one on the up-and-up. At the end of the day, it just works incredibly well.
I've not seen any scores/press on this yet, but I'll bet you it will snag several 90+ point ratings. I'd personally have it in the 92-93 point range. All in all, here's a wine that offers a lovely mix of red and dark fruits, nice complexity, and great overall balance and harmony. I can rarely say that about wines in this price range.
A bottle of this and some simple pasta with red sauce are in my near future, but this one is certainly smooth enough to enjoy without fat and/or protein. It's been awhile since I've offered a stellar Super Tuscan value...it will sell out fast. You have been warned :)
