Jean-Paul Brun Beaujolais Blanc 2021

Spectacular White Burgundy Value: 2021 Jean-Paul Brun Beaujolais Blanc Classic

It's another HIGHLY successful vintage of Jean-Paul Brun's stunning Beaujolais Blanc. I always rate this as one of the top White Burgundy values we stock, and the 2022 is no exception.

"Offers sensational value and a distinctively delicious personality such as you won't find in 98% or more Chardonnays grown anywhere in the world." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Coming from old vines grown in the warmer, southern part of Beaujolais, this easily rivals top Pouilly-Fuisses and Saint Verans that cost 2 to 3 times the price. At less than $22, this is a "serious" bottle of White Burgundy at a crazy-good price!

Monsieur Brun takes great pride in his Beaujolais Blanc, a 100% Chardonnay-based cuvee fermented in tank. He had a special horizontal tank constructed specifically for this wine. The shape of the tank ensures closer contact between the wine and the lees (yeast cells), and this contributes lovely texture and a gentle spiciness to the wine.

Produced from old, organically-farmed vines in Charnay, just north of Lyon, the terroir here is quite special. Whereas the vineyards to the north are a bit cooler and possess more granite-rich soils, Charnay is slightly warmer, and the soils are more limestone-driven.

It is this combination of warmer weather and rocky, mineral-rich soils that contribute to this wine's greatness. Despite seeing no oak, this is quite rich, layered, and voluminous. Gorgeous aromas of pear, peach, nectarine, and juicy red delicious apples all come roaring out of the glass. Juicy, ample, and balanced on the palate, it is seriously delicious.

If you need a second opine, here's what Vinous Media had to say. "The 2022 Beaujolais Blanc Classic has an attractive bouquet with pear and peach skin scents, and just a hint of nectarine. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, fresh and lively with lovely Anjou pear, melon and nectarine notes on the finely-proportioned finish. Delicious!"

I try a lot of Chardonnays each year, and this one always impresses me for its purity and its highly attractive personality and price. You all like it too, and it's been a hot minute since I've put it on sale. You know what to do next!
