A good bottle of Pinot Grigio is one of life's simple pleasures. When made well, like this version from the Tiefenbrunner family, it is a white wine with wonderful aromatics, a round yet fresh texture, and a crisp finish.
From Italy's northernmost vineyards, near the Austrian border, this is a wine that Vinous Media described as "soothingly round" and "seductively scented." I couldn't have said it better myself, and this wonderfully made Pinot Grigio will delight your senses, but it won't break the bank.

Since 1848, the Tiefenbrunner family have farmed the Alpine-influenced vineyards of Trentino-Alto Adige. At 3,280 feet above sea level, these are some of the highest vineyards in Europe. With altitude comes cooler temperatures, more complex soils, and more captivating wines. That is certainly the case with this Pinot Grigio. It is seriously a cut above anything you could buy at the grocery store in this price range.
Fermented in stainless steel and aged on its fine lees for 4 months, this is produced from old vines. Tiefenbrunner's Pinot Grigio was planted back in the mid-1980's, and these older vines give this wine its wonderful perfume, its nice concentration, and its wonderful balance of fruit and minerality. Put simply, this is a super satisfying bottle of white wine and a great value as well.
Vinous Media nailed it with their review. "'The 2020 Pinot Grigio is seductively scented, with ripe apples and pears complemented by gingery spice. It's soothingly round yet focused with a pure mix of orchard fruits and zests of lime. A subtle coating of salty minerals lingers, creating a savory and nicely crisp finale." I have nothing to add.
Wonderful as an aperitif, this also pairs well with butter-poached fish, shrimp scampi, and pasta primavera. If Pinot Grigio is your favorite white wine, I highly recommend you get a solid six-pack of this one. You won't regret it!
