I love Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noirs, and I think the 2023 Morgan 12 Clones Pinot Noir is an exceptional representation of the bigger, broader style you get from these hillside vineyards. It's a stunning value too.
Wine Enthusiast gave it 94 points, and I think they're right on the money. Ripe and powerful, this displays classic Santa Lucia Highlands notes of warm black cherry, brambly red berries, exotic spices, and smoky violets. There's more body here than you find in a lot of Pinot Noir, but it still has that cool-climate freshness that keeps the wine from feeling heavy or jammy.

What a wine! The 12 Clones blends fruit from multiple Santa Lucia Highlands sites and Pinot Noir clones, giving you a great snapshot of what this region does so well. And the Morgan name carries some serious pedigree.
Daniel Morgan Lee was one of the pioneers of the appellation, making his first wines back in 1982. I love the combination of ripe fruit, real depth, and freshness you get here. It's a serious Pinot without the serious price tag.
