La Villa Real Macabeo 2025

Really Good, Sub-$10 White Wine: 2025 La Villa Real Macabeo

Darius and I both took a bottle of La Villa Real Macabeo home recently for recipes that called for a clean, crisp, inexpensive white wine, and we were both pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I mean like really good!

At just $8.79/bottle, 20% off the regular price of $10.99, it's an amazing value too.

La Villa Real Macabeo

The wine comes from La Mancha in central Spain and is made from 100% Macabeo, aka Viura. You might not know the grape, but many of you have had it. It's one of Spain's most important native white grapes and one of the three main grapes used in Cava, but it makes wonderfully fresh still wines too... like this one!

For me, this throws some Sauvignon Blanc-like notes of citrus, green apple, and green herbs. Darius had similar tasting notes, and added that he loved how the palate was light and crisp but still packed with flavor. We both commented on how much we enjoyed a glass with our culinary creations. You can too!

This isn't trying to be some profound "terroir wine." It's just really good, pure, and inexpensive Spanish white wine. It's exactly the kind of wine I want around the house for cooking, drinking, or both.

No need to ponder this one or do a lot of research. It's a wine to drink and enjoy. At just $8.79, I highly recommend you grab a few bottles.
