This is the ultimate Glou-glou! Glou-glou is a term for a juicy, chillable, and chuggable red that is ideal for casual consumption, and the Mendoza-born Durigutti brothers make a fine rendition.
The Criolla Chica grape, aka Listan Prieto in Spain, Pais in Chile, and Mission in the US, was planted in Mendoza in the 16th century, pre-dating Malbec by at least 100 years. It's now recognized as one of the country's "rising star grapes," and this one comes from a plot planted in 1943. Just 295 cases were produced, and I adore the wine's refreshing and easy-drinking character.
We've got 60 bottles up for grabs at deal pricing, and we sell a ton when it's not on-deal. Try something different, try Criolla Chica!
2023 Proyecto las Compuertas Criolla Chica -- Why should you buy it?
- It's the perfect "warm weather red." Light in body and color, low in tannin, and bright in flavor, this can be served with a light chill for maximum refreshment.
- Lots of folks are gravitating towards lighter reds, and for good reason. Don't get me wrong, we still sell plenty of BIG reds, but wines like this seem to be easier for my body to process.
- It's kind of like a Beaujolais crossed with Frappato. Tart cherry, fresh strawberry, spring flowers, and peppery spice combine to create a joyful drinking experience.
- This stuff is super popular at the shop. I brought in a few bottles originally as a "light red option," but a lot of customers we didn't think would like it LOVED IT.
We just bought our distributor's remaining inventory, and we're offering this up at a great price. Grab a few bottles to enjoy with or without food all spring and summer!
