Barbanera Nero di Troia 2022

Plush and Pleasure-Bent Italian Red: 2024 Barbanera Nero di Troia

Barbanera continues to amaze me with the incredible red wine values they deliver, and their Nero di Troia is another winner.

If you already know and love their Ser Passo Toscana Rosso, trust me when I tell you this one is every bit as satisfying. Rich, ripe, and packed with Puglian character, it drinks way above its price point.

Get a solid six-pack, and it comes down to $9.99 per bottle, over 20% off the regular price -- 14 cases available, get some!

Anything less, and it's still just $12.99.

Southern Italian reds have always held a special place in my heart because they appeal to so many different wine drinkers. They're full-bodied and generous but never harsh or overbearing, and this one strikes that balance beautifully.

With summer grilling season in full swing, this is exactly the sort of bottle I want on the table. Pull it out when friends or family stop by, and they'll think you broke out the "good stuff." Just be sure to tell them where you got it. :)

Nero di Troia is one of the great red grapes of Puglia. This region, in the heel of Italy's boot, gives us wines that are deeply colored, full-flavored, and sumptuous. While this variety can sometimes be a bit firm and tannic, Barbanera's version is plush, smooth, and approachable. Fermented entirely in stainless steel to preserve freshness and purity, it bursts with ripe plum, warm blueberry, violet, and sweet spice. It's a natural with grilled meats, barbecue, hearty pasta dishes, and aged cheeses, but it's just as enjoyable with nothing more than a good glass and good company.

If you're a fan of big yet silky wines like Zinfandel, Malbec, or rich red blends, don't overthink this one.

Grab a solid six-pack, and thank me later.
