Do you like your wines "large and in charge?" Go ahead and sign up for a six-pack. Vina Robles makes delicious, highly likable wines from their estate vineyards in hot and sunny Paso Robles. Here is a wine that truly showcases the plush and opulent style of red wine that has put this region on the map.
This wine takes me back to my early days in the wine industry. When I first moved to Asheville in 2003 and worked at a store downtown, this is the kind of wine I adored. Although you'll typically find me drinking Pinot Noir these days, I still love a big and bold red like this one from time to time. It's nostalgic, but good wine is good wine, and I very much enjoy this one.
If you have been a fan of past Red Blend offers like the J. Dusi Model M or The Fiction Red Blend, read no further. I guarantee you'll love this wine. The 45% Syrah really shines here, offering up luscious notes of spiced plum and mocha. Following that up, the 40% Petite Sirah contributes deep and dark "bass" notes of peppery blackberry and blueberry liqueur. Last but not least, the Grenache and Tannat add red fruits and a bit of structure.
Aged for 18 months in French, Hungarian, and American oak, this one finishes toasty, spicy, and super smooth, especially for such a deeply colored wine. Whether you want a wine for casual sipping while you are watching football or a BIG RED to pair with hearty fall dishes like chili or beef stew, this one will do the trick.
