I think the 2023 version is my favorite he's produced to date. This crazy blend of 23% Zinfandel, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 16% Syrah, and assorted other varieties is full-bodied, supple, and custom-made for your springtime cookouts. I think it's also one of the top Red Blend values produced in the United States.

There is so much to like about this "kitchen sink cuvee" from Andrew Jones. Luxurious notes of warm blueberry, blackberry, spiced plum, minty herb, white pepper, and violet make this a wine that will appeal greatly to Cotes du Rhone lovers. Like a Cotes du Rhone, it's rich and boisterous, but it's a bit too easy to drink.
The Field Recordings story is a good one. Young vigneron Andrew Jones founded Field Recordings after many years working in the vineyards of California’s Central Coast. His work experience blessed him a keen eye for spotting special but under-appreciated sites. It is from these vineyards that Andrew crafts small amounts of soulful and affordable wines, and Fiction was his first creation.
The art of the blend is on full display in this hedonistic pleasure-bomb of a wine. Blending isn't anything new, as it has been used for many years in Europe to bring grapes with often-contrasting qualities into a wine of harmony. If you've ever had Cotes du Rhone, Bordeaux, Rioja, or Chianti (just to name a few), you've had a blended red wine. The Fiction Red Blend, despite the number of grapes, presents itself as a balanced and cohesive wine.
