Cloudline Rose 2021

Our First Dry Rose Offer of the Year: 2021 Cloudline Rose of Pinot Noir

I know you all are craving dry rose, and I've got an absolute stunner to kick things off this year. Cloudline Wines are the "indie label" for importer Dreyfus-Ashby, and since their inception 20 years ago, the wines have been made under the watchful eyes of Veronique Drouhin-Boss.

Their 2021 Rose is everything I look for in dry rose. Brisk, bright, and aromatic, this will get the juices flowing and will provide maximum refreshment as we head into the warmer seasons. My advice, BUY IT NOW, drink it now, but save some for a hot and sunny summer day! You won't regret it.

For those who think that great rose is only produced in France, think again. Stop being snobby, and try rose(s) from areas outside of Provence. There, I said it! Now, with that out of the way, let's talk about the virtues of this bottle of wine. Coming from prime vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley and made by the highly-talented Veronique Drouhin-Boss, this is a pink wine I could drink all day.

One smell of this wine, and you'll immediately know that you've got some good stuff in your glass. I've had many roses from Burgundy that cost a lot more that don't deliver nearly as much joy as this wine does. It dances on the palate, and it just keeps you coming back for sip after sip. That is surely what you're looking for in a wine right?

After the fire-plagued 2020 vintage, the growers and producers of the Willamette Valley were treated to an excellent year in 2021....they certainly deserved it! The vintage is being called a great one, both in terms of quality and quantity, and that's part of the equation here. In vintages with good quantity and quality, there's a lot of great fruit available, and the team at Cloudline obviously capitalized on this in 2021.

This is made with a ton of TLC folks. The grapes are picked, quickly transported to the winery, and pressed immediately into tank using a special press usually found only in Champagne. The process is achingly slow, but more than worth it, as it extracts juice with more delicate and glorious aromas and flavors.

Pouring an exquisite salmon color, this offers up overt notes of tart strawberry, raspberry, cherry, and honeysuckle. Finely cut, fresh, and zippy on the palate, this is my idea of the perfect dry rose drinking experience. Bravo to the team at Cloudline for producing such and exceptional pink wine.
