The holidays are upon us, and there's no better way to toast good cheer than with a glass of world-class, small grower and producer Champagne. This is a new and more affordable bottling from our friends at Voirin-Jumel, and it is absolutely fantastic. We still stock their Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, and it's as good as ever, but the estate's Tradition Brut is not only an insane value, it's incredibly delicious.
Equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this is one of the best real-deal Champagne values out there. It's classy, it's refined, it's quite rich, and you definitely know you're drinking the good stuff. Stock up on this one to enjoy through the end of the year. With incredible deal pricing in place, this won't last long.

When my good buddy Henri Gabriel, owner of Advintage Distributing, brought this wine by the store to taste with me a couple of weeks back, I was giddy with excitement. After tasting it, I was even more excited, as this is as good as true Champagne gets for less than $40. The house style at Voirin-Jumel can best be summed up with one word: BALANCE. These are rich and regal wines, with bold and flamboyant flavors, but the wine's zesty acids keep it fresh and bright.
A blend of 50% Chardonnay from Grand Cru vineyards and 50% Pinot Noir from Premier Cru vineyards, this stuff jumps out of the glass with complex, rich, and layered aromas and flavors. Cherry, tangerine, pear, candied ginger, bread dough, honeyed citrus, and more are all on display in this regal and grand wine. Despite its richness, this is definitely dry and the bubbles are super fine and creamy on the palate. Trust me, the "yum factor" is BIG on this wine!
The Voirin and Jumel families both started producing Champagnes just after World War II. For nearly three decades, the families were just growers, and they sold their grapes to the bigger Champagne houses. In the mid-1970's, Francoise Jumel married Gilles Voirin, and the families joined forces, and started bottling their own wines. Today, the estate is run by Francoise and Gilles children Patrick and Alice, and the wines are better than ever. I would happily put this in a blind tasting against many big name Champagnes that cost a lot more, and I bet you the store that this would win.
The key to Voirin-Jumel's brilliance is the quality of fruit and the family's commitment to organic farming. When discussing Champagne, the village of Cramant is one of the top-spots for Chardonnay in all of Champagne. The family owns about 2.5 acres of certified Grand Cru and certified organic vineyards here, and that is where the Chardonnay component of this wine comes from. The Pinot Noir comes from Premier Cru sites in the Valle de la Marne.
All in all, when you take one sniff and sip of this wine, you immediately know you're enjoying incredibly high-quality, true Champagne.
