Gundlach Bundschu Mountain Cuvee 2023

Masterful Sonoma County Cab Blend from Gundlach Bundschu

From one of the oldest estates in Sonoma County comes one of the great Cab-driven values of all time. Yep, the 2023 Gundlach Bundschu Mountain Cuvee is one for the ages folks. While it has not been reviewed by any major publications yet, I am guessing this will score somewhere in the 92-94 point range.

At $22.99, our regular price, it's a great buy, but at $17.99, it's a total no-brainer! It really is amazing how much "bang for buck" this Bordeaux-inspired blend offers up. It's real, it's totally ready to drink, and it's just lights out delicious.

We've got 60 bottles in stock and on deal through April 12th. Based on the past offers of this one, I would not wait too long to place your order.....

I'm going to get right to my tasting notes, as I had this one last night with a New York strip, and it was a match made in heaven. The 2023 comes in as a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, and the balance in Cab Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. As the winery says, it is "a love letter to Bordeaux," and I think that's quite an apt description.

Captivating on the nose, it offers up enticing notes of dark cherry, blackcurrant, plum, cedar, spice box, dried herb, and just a hint of dark chocolate. Medium-bodied and refined, it possesses silky tannins, juicy acidity, and you can drink now or enjoy over the next 7 to 8 years.

With over 320 acres of estate vineyards, the Bundschu family have plenty of fruit to choose from to craft this wine each year. Furthermore, these vineyards are primely located at the crossroads of the Sonoma Valley, Carneros, and Napa Valley AVAs, at the base of the Mayacamas Mountain Range. In the highly-touted, hot, and dry 2023 vintage, these cooler sites yielded a beautiful and polished wine that is packed with North Coast personality.

A wine that could easily go toe-to-toe with wines costing two to three times the price, I can promise you this will not last long. Pick up a six-pack, enjoy some now with steak or lamb chops, and lay some down for 5-10 years......to enjoy with steak or lamb chops. You're gonna' love it!
