Is Masciarelli Montepulciano Italy’s greatest red wine value? I think so but there’s only one way for you to find out and I’m going to make it incredibly easy to do so. Keep reading…..
I’ve been drinking this hearty and healthy Italian red for years and it’s always a ton of wine for the money. But the current release is better and more polished than any Masciarelli Montepulciano I’ve ever tried.

I’m going to start with Jeb Dunnuck’s review on the 2016, which he scored 90 points. Trust me, this guy is one of the most adept and skilled tasters in the game, almost as good as me:) He said it offers up “notes of spiced cherries, cedary herbs, leather, and dried flowers,” going on to say it’s “about as gulpable as they come and is well worth seeking out.” Yep, he nailed it on the the 2016 and my notes on the 2017 are pretty much identical.
Where else are you going to find truly artisanal, estate-bottled, organic and delicious Italian red wine for less than $20? Oh yeah, I meant to say less than 15 bucks……no, I meant to say less than ten bucks. This is the real deal here folks and it has been for over 20 years. This is Montepulciano. This is Masciarelli. And this is really great, hand-crafted wine at a great price.
Drink this easy, but satisfying red with pizza, burgers, barbecue or whatever your favorite comfort food is. I highly recommend you enjoy it with one of Brian Canipelli’s creations. He’s the guy and the mind behind Cucina 24 and he’s still working his ass off, cooking some of the best food for pickup available in Asheville. Click here to check out their daily menu for pickup.
