With cooler weather in the forecast, I know you're thirsting for richer and warmer reds to keep you cozy at night. I've got just the solution, and it is contained in this wonderful bottle of Montepulciano. Centorame is a small, certified organic, family-run estate, and their Scuderie Ducali Montepulciano is about as pure and honest as red wine gets.
I'm not sure how such a delicious and hand-crafted wine can sell for such a low price, but I don't ask questions when I taste a great deal. I just buy a bunch, and that's exactly what I did here. If you love Montepulciano or classic Italian reds, go ahead and get a six-pack and pay just $10.99 per bottle. You'll thank me!

Talk about a wine that over-delivers in a huge way! This is that elusive red wine that is both inexpensive and delicious, hand-crafted and affordable. It’s all of that and more folks. This 12 hectare, certified organic, family owned and operated winery is fairly new on the scene but I think it’s one that lots of folks will be talking about. It comes to us from our friend and importer Jay Murrie of Piedmont Wine Imports — if you’ve liked other wines from that great portfolio, you’re gonna’ want to try this new one.
Believe me when I say this wine could easily hit the shelf at $20. It’s not one of those “fruity little numbers” that tastes like a cherry jolly rancher…….thank goodness. Far from it, this is a wine with some deep, complex and satisfying flavors. When I opened my first bottle and stuck my nose in the glass, I couldn’t believe the price on this one — thanks Jay! Far from being a “cheap pizza wine,” this is quite substantial but it stays completely unpretentious at the same time.
Right out of the gate, this one exudes classic Montepulciano aromas of plum, boysenberry, dark cherry and spice. On the palate, it’s concentrated but lively, with flavors of dark berries, warm cherry, oregano, and thyme. Quite polished, smooth, and easy to drink this vintage, enjoy this with your favorite pizza or red-sauced pasta.
If you don't like wine with your food, no problem, this one tastes just fine by itself. It's truly "comfort in a bottle" as it is both satisfying and it won't break the bank. Lynn and I enjoyed this the other night with lamb burgers with caramelized onions and cheddar. I highly recommend you do the same!
