Marietta Old Vine Red Lot #75

Marietta Cellars Old Vine Red Lot #75

I can't think of a time when Marietta's Old Vine Red hasn't tasted great, and their Lot #75 is another in a string of highly successful OVR's. Now in its 43rd release, it remains one of our country's greatest red wine values.

"Tastes like the gutsy field blends popularized by Italian immigrants back in the day." - Wine Spectator - 90 points

Scott Bilbro of Marietta Cellars. He's one of the nicest guys in the biz!

Since 1982, a member of the Bilbro family has made OVR, and today, Scott Bilbro carries on the legacy his father Chris started. Rated 91 points by the Wine Advocate and 90 by Wine Spectator, Marietta's Lot #75 OVR is in wonderful form.

Marietta Old Vine Red Lot #75 -- Why Should You Buy It?

  • Always a non-vintage wine, Lot #75 is a blend of grapes from 2022, but it also contains some fruit from previous years. This allows Scott to meld the freshness of younger wines with the savory and silky characteristics of aged wines.
  • A blend of 70% Zinfandel, 15% Syrah, 5% Petite Sirah, 5% Merlot, 3% Grenache, and 2% Barbera fermented and aged in stainless steel and neutral barrels, it is hearty and rustic, but as the Wine Advocate said, it is "wonderfully easy to drink."
  • Every time I taste OVR, I am amazed at the depth of flavor it presents. Loaded with ripe and zesty flavors of wild berries, cracked black pepper, cured meat, and dried violet, this is not a simple wine.

Far from it, I think it's not just one of the top values made in the US, it's one of the top red wine values made anywhere in the world. It's also great with BBQ, but no food is required, as the tannins are nice and broad-shouldered. Drink now through 2030.
