Crafted by Kris Curran, one of the Central Coast's most gifted winemakers and the original maker of Sea Smoke Pinot Noir, this is luscious, vivacious, and endearing white wine at a great price point. Grenache Blanc is kind of like Sauvignon Blanc crossed with Viognier, and this beautifully scented and flavored wine will please lots of palates.

While Kris Curran is revered for her Pinot Noirs, she makes a dang good white wine as well. She started her eponymous label in 1997, and she works closely with small growers throughout Santa Barbara County to ensure the grapes she receives are optimally ripe. The 2021 vintage is one that producers up and down the coast of California are raving about, and that high vintage quality is on full display here.
Around 800 cases of this wine were produced for the year, and the wine comes from a single, 30 year-old vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley. Grapes are hand harvested and sorted, and the wine was whole-cluster pressed into stainless steel vats. Aged on the lees for 6 months, the wine comes in at just 12.8% ABV, making it perfect for sunny spring and summer sipping.
This is not a shy wine at all! Far from it, the aromas are overt and quite intense, with attractive notes of mango, peach, passion fruit, and elderflower. Medium-bodied, zesty, and delightful on the palate, this is the perfect "porch pounder," but I can't wait to get into a bottle with some Little Bee Thai food in the very near future.
