I finally found what I've been looking for, and it took me nearly two years to find it! The 93 point-rated, 2019 Krutz Family Cabernet Sauvignon is an epic and decadent Napa Cab that I'd happily "put in the ring" against Venge or Royal Prince. Trust me folks, this stuff is not just delicious, it's also a superb value.
"It could be two to three times the price and still be a good value." - Jeb Dunnuck
Just 300 cases of this marvelous wine were produced in the high-quality 2019 vintage, and this stuff is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from top vineyards scattered throughout the valley. Full-bodied, stylish, and supple, this is seriously "rock star juice" at an unbelievable price. If you have loved Venge and Royal Prince in the past, get ready to be amazed by this rocking good wine!

Brothers Patrick, Bryan, and Cole Krutz are all Mississippi-born boys who caught the "wine bug." Patrick was the first to fall in love with California's wine country when he started working at The Cheese Shop in Monterey in the early 2000's. In his free-time and with no formal training, Patrick began making tiny lots of his own wines to share with friends and family. Guess what? Everybody loved his wines, and Krutz Family Cellars was born in 2003. Shortly thereafter, Bryan and Cole joined the team.
I will be completely honest, I had never heard of this winery until about 2 weeks ago when my sales rep stopped by the shop and poured me a splash. It was love at first sight, smell, and sip! This stuff poured a deep, pretty-much opaque color, and it offered up classic and classy Napa Cab notes of creme de cassis, baked plum, cinnamon stick, cumin, and dark chocolate. Full-bodied but fine-grained (aka smooth), I knew immediately that my loyal bunch of Napa Valley Cab fans would fall just as hard for this wine as I did. I proceeded to buy a bunch.
If you go to the winery's website, you'll see they are buying grapes from some very prestigious Cabernet sites. We're talking Beckstoffer Georges III and Stagecoach to be exact, and most of the fruit that goes into this wine comes from these heritage sites. Cabernet grapes from these vineyards are picked at the peak of ripeness (October 2 to be exact), enjoying that long hang-time that delivers those rich and opulent flavors. Aged for 22 months in 50% new and high-quality French oak, the finished wine is a triumph.
I know you all trust me, but it's always nice to have a second opinion right? Jeb Dunnuck nailed it with his review, saying the "2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is outstanding. All varietal aged in 50% new oak, it has some pure cassis fruit as well as textbook herbal and tobacco notes. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it’s elegant and has supple tannins, wonderful balance, and a great finish. It could be two to three times the price and still be a good value."
This wine has just got "IT" going on. I don't know how else to say it, but I know you'll know what I mean when you taste it. I look forward to selling lots of this one this year, and with smoke-tainted 2020 Napa Cabs still abundant in the market (but not at Table Wine), I advise you to seize the day, and get yourself a six-pack of this one.
