Lambrusco That Will Make Your Head Spin: Villa di Corlo 'Rolfshark' Lambrusco di Sorbara

Villa di Corlo 'Rolfshark' Lambrusco di Sorbara

Lambrusco is more popular and better than ever, and it's producers like Villa di Corlo that are guiding it in that direction. Antonia Munari runs this forward-thinking, family-owned estate just 15 minutes southwest of Modena.

They are one of the few producers in the region to be certified organic, and Munari doesn't farm that way to "be cool," she does it because she firmly believes it yields better and healthier vines and grapes.

Their Lambrusco di Sorbara is a wonderful introduction to Rosato Lambrusco, and it is fermented completely dry. It's meant to be drunk liberally at Italian restaurants, washing down pizzas, pastas, cheeses, and charcuterie. As a staff, we love it!

Rolfshark Lambrusco di Sorbara -- Why should you buy it?

  • It is deliciously refreshing and pure! It smells like fresh raspberry, peach, strawberry, and rose petal, and it has similar tasting notes, but the palate is super juicy, fresh, and mouthwatering.
  • Antonia Munari is know locally as the "Queen of Lambrusco." In addition to making super tasty and quaffable sparkling roses and reds, she also produces award-winning balsamic vinegars. Yes, I'm already inquiring about availability of those : )
  • This stuff is totally "happy juice." Pour yourself a fizzy glass, take a sniff and a sip, and I'll guarantee you it will be hard not to smile : )

It's so fun to be able to sell small grower Lambrusco like this in Asheville, NC! The fact that we have demand for wines of this sort lets you know that Asheville is still cool and vibrant, and I love it here, and I love what I do!
