1. 2017 Raventos Blanc de Blancs Brut (Penedes, Spain) – Raventos is one of the finest sparkling wine estates on the planet, and the current release of their Blanc de Blancs is in fine form. From certified organic vineyards, this blend of Xarel-lo, Macabeu, and Parellada is bone dry and oh-so refreshing. Displaying lovely purity and tension, this world-class bubbly will light up your palate with taut notes of apple, lemon, pear, white flowers, and mineral. 2. 2018 Terre Brulee Chenin Blanc (Swartland, South Africa) – 90 points Wine Spectator – This is an exciting new wine from husband and wife Vincent and Tania Careme. Natives of the Loire Valley, where the couple also run one of the finest Vouvray estates in the world, they work with 70+ year old vines in Swartland, South Africa to create this wine. With a nice balance of richness and freshness, this dry, beautifully textured white is perfect for turkey and ham. “Elegant, showing a gentle texture, with intense acidity giving energy to the flavors of yellow apple, lime and honeysuckle. Salty mineral elements emerge midpalate, leaving a savory aftertaste.” – Wine Spectator

3. 2018 Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais Blanc (Beaujolais, France) – Un-oaked, but fuller-bodied Chardonnay like this one is always a safe bet for Thanksgiving. With terrific acidity buttressed by plenty of ripe orchard fruit flavors, it’s a natural partner to poultry and earthy root veggies. This one, from the southernmost part of Burgundy, shows beautiful purity to the white peach, golden apple, pear, and spice notes. For fans of wPouilly Fuisse and Saint Veran, you’ll love this one. 4. 2018 Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais Rouge (Beaujolais, France) – 89 points Vinous Media – Domaine Dupeuble makes one of my top go-to Beaujolais’, and Gamay and the Thanksgiving meal are a match made in heaven. The bright, red fruited flavors work well with cranberry sauce, the light tannin and moderate acidity don’t overwhelm the mellow flavor of turkey, and the subtle earthy/spicy notes work well with the umami-rich flavor of gravy. “Glistening magenta. Ripe red fruit and floral scents, along with hints of white pepper and musky earth. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that deliver solid punch and take a sweeter turn with air. 5. 2017 Colene Clemens Pinot Noir ‘Dopp Creek’ (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – 93 points Wine Spectator – Simply put, this is the top Oregon Pinot Noir value on the planet. And Pinot Noir is one of the all time great Thanksgiving wines. “Graceful and vibrant, with expressive rose petal, raspberry and crushed stone notes that take on richness and depth toward refined tannins. 6. 2016 Chateau Saint Roch Maury Sec ‘Kerbuccio’ (Roussillon, France) – 93 points Jeb Dunnuck – Want to go with something a bit bigger and bolder for the meal? A Grenache-heavy red from Southern France is the way to go. And this one comes from a fine estate owned by Jean-Marc Lafage. With its bold, rich, spicy flavors and fine-grained texture, this will compliment the brown spices that abound in the Thanksgiving meal. “Another great vintage for the cuvée, the 2016 Maury Sec Kerbuccio (75% Grenache, 20% Carignan, and 5% Mourvèdre) is loaded with character and reveals a deep purple color as well as notes of black and blue fruits, new saddle leather, exotic herbs, and tobacco. Charming, medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, and seamless on the palate, you can’t go wrong with this wine.” – Jeb Dunnuck
