Hartford Court Chardonnay Russian River 2019

"Impeccably Made," 94 pt Chardonnay: 2019 Hartford Court Russian River Chardonnay

Is there a better Russian River Valley Chardonnay produced? I don't think so, and some of the top critics and periodicals in the land don't think so either.

I hadn't tasted any Hartford Family Wines for a long time, but when I tasted this with my sales rep last week and heard the price, I had to keep my "poker face" on. I'm telling you folks, this is a ton of wine for the money, and there's so much nuance and style here. It easily could fetch $40+, and it would still be a terrific value.

Founded in 1993 by Don and Jennifer Hartford, Hartford Court is located just 15 miles from the Pacific Coast in the sweet little town of Forestville. These are folks who love great wines just as much as you and I do, and they craft wines that they like to drink. I like what they like, and I think you will too! This wine is all about balance folks. There's rich and ripe fruit, but there's zesty acidity as well, and this gorgeous Russian River fruit is perfectly offset by judicious French oak.

Fermented and aged in French oak (26% new), this one is a bit hard to describe. There is a side to it that is rich and luxurious, but there's another side that is vivacious and mineralic. For me, the wine offers up stunning aromatics of caramelized pineapple, peach, citrus, nutmeg, and roasted hazelnut. On the palate, it offers up great concentration and deep flavors of orchard and citrus fruits along with integrated notes of baking spices, crushed rock, and white flowers.

This is a wine that outclasses so many big name and more expensive California Chardonnays in so many ways. Get it now because my distributor's price goes up March 1st, and I will not be able to offer this deal any longer. Chardonnay lovers, you'll thank me!
