Red Zinfandel is all about rich and spicy fruit, and the Biale family have been producing highly-rated, award-winning Zins for nearly 100 years. Their Party Line Zinfandel (more on the name later) is everything a Red Zin lover wants and more. It's bold and hearty, but it's also zesty and more elegant than most of its peers.
What I love about Biale's Zins is that they balance that ripe and boisterous Zinfandel fruit with zesty and food-friendly acids. While this is perfectly delicious and drinkable without food, it's a natural fit with BBQ, steak au poivre, and other wintry dishes.
2022 Robert Biale 'Party Line' Zinfandel -- Why should you buy it?
- Biale is one of California's top Zinfandel producers. While most of their wines fetch $40 to $50+ these days, this one is a tremendous value that delivers aromas and flavors of wild cherry, brambly raspberry, and peppery spice.
- What's up with the name? In the 1940's, the Biale family made wine for their own consumption, but they weren't a bonded winery yet. Thus, selling their wines commercially would have been illegal. Aldo developed a "code language" to offer their wines, along with eggs and produce, through the "Party Line" phone system.
- It's produced from old vines from heritage sites in Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino Counties. These old vines give this a wine a good degree of concentration, depth, and spiciness.
- We bought it all, and we're dealing deep on it. You won't this festive and pleasure-bent red at a better price anywhere in town. 84 bottles up for grabs!
