Vintage 2021 is one that Willamette Valley producers are talking about with great glee and joy, and after tasting several 2021 Patricia Green Pinot Noirs last week, and I can understand why. They were all good, but their 2021 Reserve Pinot Noir offered the best quality-to-price ratio, and I am certain it will be judged as one of the top values of this prodigious vintage.
I am pleased to say that we just received our 10 case allocation of this wine, and we are offering this up at one of the best prices in the state. After the horrible, smoke-tainted 2020 vintage, 2021 turned out beautifully. A hot, dry, and sunny growing season provided ideal conditions for "action-packed" Pinot Noirs. Don't snooze on this one folks, it will go fast!

Stylistically, I think the 2021 Willamette Valley Pinots are a lot like the 2019's, a vintage that Wine Spectator rated 97 points overall. These are wines with a bit more color and a bit more body, but they are also very pretty and quite supple in texture. That's exactly what you get in the 2021 Patty Green Reserve Pinot Noir, a wine that thoroughly impressed this "picky Pinot Noir palate" when I tasted it last week.
A blend of grapes from their own estate vineyards along with purchased fruit from Freedom Hill (one of the most famous sites in the Valley) and a few other top sites, this gives you a great "snap shot" of the 2021 vintage. Medium-bodied, incredibly silky and finely textured, and flowing with aromas and flavors of ripe cherry, raspberry, cola, blood orange, and rose petal, this is a glorious bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir at a great price.
When the beloved and very talented Patty Green died from complications from a fall back in 2017, we didn't know what would happen to her eponymous winery or the quality of her wines. I'm here to tell you that while I'm very sad that Patty is no longer with us, her wines are still exceptional, and there's a good reason for that. Jim Anderson, Patty's longtime business and winemaking partner, stayed on board, and he continues to make the wines in the spirit and with the quality measures that he and Patty originated years ago.
With my loyal legion of Oregon Pinot Noir lovers, those 120 bottles aren't going to last long. Don't snooze on this one, unless you want to lose 😀 Just kidding, it's just wine, but dang, it's a good one!
