The holidays are almost here, and Gimonnet-Gonets Blanc de Noirs is new to the shop, it's delicious, and it's a ridiculous value in small-production, Grower Champagne. Formed in 1986 by Philippe Gimonnet and Anne Gonet, both being descendants of long lines of Champenois, this blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier is rich and full-bodied yet fresh and elegant on the palate.
With just 13.5 hectares spread throughout the Cotes de Blancs and the Marne Valley, including 6 that are classified as Grand Cru, the estate's L'Etonnat (The Astonishment) is an astonishingly great bottle of bubbles, and we just received our first shipment. Just 120 bottles up for grabs, as they don't make much wine, and our pricing is crazy good.
