Really good Barbera is a thing of beauty, and this is really damn good Barbera! Giovanni Prandi and his son Alessandro make a total of 2,000 cases of wine from their small, organic, family farm in the historic town of Diano d'Alba. We have proudly been selling their gorgeous Barbera for a little over a year now, and our customers love it just as much as we do.
The family finds great peace staying close to their home and their vineyards, and they sell most of their production to the local market. Luckily, a little bit makes it to North Carolina, and we keep buying the lion's share. With Thanksgiving coming up soon, this would be a great and affordable red wine to serve with the feast.
2022 Prandi Giovanni Barbera d'Alba -- Why should you buy it?
- Barbera is a serious crowd pleaser, and it's great with (or without) food. With silky tannin and zesty acidity, it's a natural fit at the dinner table, pairing well with everything from poultry to pizza, but it's also delicious as a "sipping wine."
- Everyone we sell this wine to comes back for more. It's ripe, it's generous, and it's got a nice mix of plum, dark cherry, blueberry, and violet. Full-bodied yet smooth and seamless, it's pure and oh-so delicious.
- It comes from that "little winery off the beaten path" that made your trip to Northern Italy so special. Maybe you had a glass at the local trattoria with mushroom risotto, and all you could keep saying is "I won't be able to find this when I get home." Yes you can!
- Just 400 cases of this organically made red were produced in the wonderful 2022 vintage. It's amazing that any makes it to the US!
