Cave la Comtadine Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2019

Extreme Southern Rhone Value: Cave la Comtadine Cotes du Rhone

If you know me, you know I've got a pretty decent palate when it comes to picking out Cotes du Rhones. The version from Cave la Comtadine is one of my most recent top finds, and with 4th of July festivities just around the corner, this is one to stock up on!

A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault, it offers up a plump texture and bold flavors of ripe raspberry, dark cherry, white pepper, and Provencal herbs. You really can't beat the quality to price ratio this wine offers, and this is good both with and without food.

With wine prices going up, due to the increased cost of gas coupled with labor shortages at the docks, this is a really great wine at a really great price folks. From a cooperative based in the village of Puymeras in the Southern Rhone, this is a wine that over-delivers in a big way. I have enjoyed no less than 3 bottles over the past month, and every bottle has been excellent.

There's not a whole lot of information online about this wine, but it does not need to be over-explained. It's just really good, and it's a wine that could easily sell for twice its respective price point. Fermented in tank, this blend of mainly Grenache and Syrah boasts aromas and flavors of brambly and pliant dark berries and peppery spice. Round, supple, and ready to drink, it is the kind of red wine you always want to have a few extra bottles of.

Enjoy this one at your back yard cookouts or make it your new house red. You'll thank me for turning you on to this delicious red from sunny Southern France. Cheers and keep on drinking the good stuff!
