Napa Cab Lovers Unite! The 2018 Typesetter Cabernet Sauvignon is my top, new Napa Cab find of 2021. Possessing that ripe, lavish, and opulent style typically found in $50+ bottles, this stuff is clicking on all cylinders.
This is the ultimate "Insider's Napa Cab." It is a wine that I was given "information" on by a few friends who work in the wine trade in Napa. Don't worry, there's nothing illegal going on here. I was just alerted to keep an eye out for this one, as it is made with super premium, hillside fruit from three top estates in Calistoga, Pritchard Hill, and Coombsville.

It's brought up like a much more expensive Napa Cab too! All the grapes come from low-yielding, hillside sites, and all the grapes are hand harvested and sorted. Fermented in small batches, the wine was aged in French oak (50% new) for 20 months, and it was racked (poured off the sediment) an astounding 5 times! Racking allows producers to avoid filtering, which can often strip a wine of its character. It is a labor-intensive process typically reserved for much more expensive wines.
This royal treatment is on immediate display here. This pours a deep, inky color, and the aromas are immediate and forward. Rocking notes of cassis, dark cherry, mocha, cigar box, and vanilla show up on the nose, and the palate is equally attractive with silky tannins and an overall decadent personality. Drinking well now, this should offer great drinking over the next 10 to 12 years.
If beef or lamb are on the menu anytime soon, this is the wine you want to be drinking with it. Cheers and keep on drinking the good stuff folks!
