Louis Gatinois leads this 12th generation grower and producer, and up until recently, the family sold most of their grapes to the famed house of Bollinger. These days, he still sells some of his impeccable Grand Cru fruit, but he is reserving more for use in his family's wines.

That is clearly evident when you get this into your glass. Golden colored, almost orange in color, this is classic Ay Champagne at it's finest. Like Bollinger, this is fuller-bodied and richer, no doubt due to its higher proportion of Pinot Noir, but it maintains wonderful freshness and nerve simultaneously.
Ripe peach, cherry, blood orange and citrus merge with richer notes of toast, mineral, and brioche to create an unforgettable drinking experience. I drink A LOT of bubbly, and I can say without question that this is a very special bottle of wine because it delivers so much Champagne goodness at such a crazy-good price.
What adds to Gatinois' mystique is the fact that other wines from the village of Ay sell for 2-3 times the price. I'm not just talking about Bollinger -- other luminaries like Billecart-Salmon, Deutz, Henri Giraud, Gosset and Philipponnat call this prized village home.
