Eric Lemelson came to wine in a roundabout way. An Oregonian since the late 70’s, his first career was not as a farmer, but as an environmental lawyer with a strong commitment to “green principles.” Eric fell in love with the sensual and seductive nuances of Oregon Pinot Noir in the early 90’s. He planted his first vineyard in 1995 and the rest, as they say, is history.
Lemelson’s wines have gone on to gain much acclaim and his 2018 Thea’s Selection Pinot Noir is stellar. Lemelson’s “house cuvee,” it is a blend of grapes from all seven of his certified organic, estate vineyards. It spans three different Willamette Valley AVA’s and it is a true taste of the Willamette Valley.
Ripe and inviting, it sports a nose of ripe dark berry fruits, black tea, chocolate, forest floor, and violet. The palate follows through silky, rich, and luxurious notes that echo the palate. I could go on and on, but if you liked this wine in the past, you'll like it this vintage too. It just does the trick, whether you're a longtime Oregon Pinot Noir lover or you want to taste what all the hype is about.
Don't miss the boat on this one folks -- 120 bottles is all we're getting this vintage. Drink this with turkey, pork roast, salmon, or marinated mushrooms. Or forget about the food, and sip this by the fire with a good friend. Either way, you'll be pleased with your purchase.
