"The 2018 Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard is an incredible wine." That's a pretty good starting point, wouldn't you say? That is exactly what Erin Brooks of Robert Parker's Wine Advocate had to say about this wine, which she went on to rate 95+ points.
You all know the Arterberry Maresh love runs deep at Table Wine, and one smell and taste of this brilliant Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, and you'll know exactly why. Jim Maresh coaxes incredible and intricate flavors out of the Pinot Noir from this old, organically farmed site.

The Maresh Vineyard is one of the top sites in the Willamette Valley. Planted by Jim's grandparents in 1970, it is one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in the United States. Farmed organically from day one, these old, low-yielding vines produce a Pinot Noir elixir that will thrill the senses.
I still remember visiting Jim at the winery's tasting room (an old red barn) at the top of the Dundee Hills back in 2015. It was one of my favorite winery visits of all time, as Jim was quite the host. He not only pulled the corks on the winery's current releases, he also opened a bottle of the estate's 1985 Pinot Noir, a mythical wine that the Wine Advocate rated 98 points and that Jim calls "the best wine" his father ever made. It was a testament to this site as well as to the longevity of the Maresh Pinot Noir.
Jim crafted one of the top Willamette Valley Pinot Noirs in the hot and dry 2018 vintage. It was not the easiest vintage, as it was super dry, but it's vintages like this where the cream rises to the top, and Jim crafted a masterpiece of a wine. Exotic aromatics, super fine texture, and sneaky power are the name of the game here, and Jim Maresh's talents are on full display here.
"The 2018 Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard is an incredible wine. It opens slowly to an arresting perfume of dusty earth, dried rose petals, tea leaves, licorice and amaro with a wealth of bright red berry fruit at the core. The palate is elegant, supple and juicy, with an expansive fan of layered, spicy flavors and a very long finish. It's hard to resist now, but it will have more to offer with time in bottle." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
I have nothing to add to Ms. Brooks review. She obviously loves Arterberry Maresh's wines just as much as I do. Snatch this up folks. You can drink some now with salmon, roast chicken, or duck, but you can also cellar this one for a decade or more.
