Tua Rita has produced one of the finest Super Tuscans of the excellent 2019 vintage. Once the dust settles, I'll guarantee you this will rank alongside legendary wines like Tignanello and Sassicaia.

Rita Tua and her husband Virgilio set up shop in the hillside town of Suvereto, just south of Bolgheri, in 1984. The couple saw the potential of Bordeaux varieties in this warmer, more coastal region, and their instincts were right. When they released their first wines in 1992, the wine world took notice with none other than Robert Parker calling one of their wines "as close to perfection as a wine can get."
Thirty years later, Tua Rita continues their legacy, putting out some of the top Super Tuscans every year. Their 2019 Giusto di Notri is a Bordeaux-inspired blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Merlot. In my estimation, this is about as close to perfection as a Tuscan red can get. It honestly drinks like a classified growth Pauillac with Tuscan flair and bravado.
Translated, it is both delicious and a relatively great value, especially when you consider Tignanello and Sassicaia both fetch $150+ these days. I had a bottle this past Sunday with some lamb chops, and it was a deeply profound vinous experience. The wine pours a deep, opaque color and leads with aromas of blackberry liqueur, baked plum, and blackcurrant. With air, more complex and highly attractive notes of Indian spices, violet, vanilla, and spice box emerge.
Equally impressive, the palate is beautifully polished, with fine tannin and an overall silky texture, especially for a wine that is this "large and in charge." It's a deeply impressive and world-class Tuscan red that will offer immediate gratification as well as serious cellar potential. Drink this one now, with a long decant, or over the next two decades.
