Amayna Sauvignon Blanc 2023

96-Points and One of Chile's Top Sauvignon Blancs

Amayna Sauvignon Blanc

Wow, talk about a wine that snaps, crackles, and pops with energy! The 2023 Amayna Sauvignon Blanc is Chile's answer to focused and mineralic Sancerre. Rated 96 points by British Master of Wine Tim Atkin, it's a wine that blew me away when I tasted it last week.

Chile's coastal Leyda Valley has quietly developed a stellar reputation for Sauvignon Blanc, and this is one of the best. Tim Atkin said it was in "the running for Chile's best Sauvignon Blanc crown." It proudly drinks way above its humble price point, and it's a must-have for lovers of this versatile varietal.

2023 Vina Garces Silva Amayna Sauvignon Blanc
Why should you buy it?

  • Amayna's vineyards are located in the cool, maritime-influenced Leyda Valley, just 7 miles from the Pacific. The area's cool climate and rocky-granitic soils combine with Amayna's old vines to give us a Sauvignon Blanc with vibrant acidity and intense citrus, mineral, and herbal notes.
  • This is as invigorating as Sauvignon Blanc gets! Savory and complex herb and flint notes lead the way on the nose, followed by assertive flavors of passion fruit, lime, pineapple, citrus zest, ginger, and more on the palate.
  • Vina Garces Silva practices regenerative farming, with the goal of improving soil and vine health along with biodiversity. This is not a marketing tactic for the Silva family, it is a way of preserving soil and vineyard health for the next generation.

While this is delicious on its own, it makes me want for goat cheese, shellfish, and seafood. The bright and high-toned punch this one packs is made more mild by fat and protein.
