2024 Marco De Bartoli 'Lucido' Catarratto

2024 Marco De Bartoli 'Lucido' Catarratto

Marco de Bartoli was one of Sicily's most visionary winemakers, revitalizing traditional Marsala, while also focusing on the production of native, indigenous Sicilian varieties.

While Marco passed away in 2010, his family carries on his legacy, and I am psyched to be one of the first retailers in North Carolina to feature their Lucio Catarratto. This rare bottling has never been seen in these parts, and I am so excited for you to get some into your glass.

Marco De Bartoli
The late Marco De Bartoli, one of Sicily's greatest "wine minds" of all time.

From the first smell of this mono-varietal Catarratto, Sicily's most planted white grape, it becomes very clear that this is a compelling white wine.

Composed entirely of the Lucido clone of Catarratto, this offers up heavenly and exotic scents of ginger, honeyed citrus, nectarine, spices, roasted nuts, and white florals.

2024 Marco De Bartoli 'Lucido' Catarratto -- Why Should You Buy It?

  • Not only is this cool, different, and exotic, it's absolutely delicious! This will appeal to fans of golden-fruited yet fresh White Burgundies, dry Chenin Blancs, and top-shelf Muscadets.
  • It offers a very high level of quality-to-price ratio. That's because most Americans have never heard of the Catarratto grape. It's a very important grape, and not only is it just Sicily's most planted variety, it's Italy's second most planted grape.
  • This is an INCREDIBLE seafood wine. Pair this rich yet vibrant white with grilled fish, pasta with clams or sardines, or sushi.

No food required though. This provides for a very enjoyable and contemplate drinking experience, and I'll be drinking a bottle with some sardines on saltines this weekend. Did you know we sell high quality Italian sardines? Ask us about them!
