La Lisse 'Soie d'Ivoire' Chenin Blanc

What a find in high-quality, value-priced, completely dry Chenin Blanc. Hailing from Limoux, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, Chenin was originally planted here in the late-1970's for sparkling wine production, but as the vines have gotten older and the region has gotten warmer, the non-sparkling wines have become very appealing and great values to boot.

For La Lisse's Chenin Blanc, the grapes are left on the vine until they achieve full ripeness, and "Soie d'Ivoire" translates to "soft Ivory silk." That's in reference to the wine's plumper and richer texture, but that richness is balanced by Chenin's bright and natural acidity.

2024 La Lisse 'Soie d'Ivoire' Chenin Blanc -- Why should you buy it?
  • Talk about a wine that will appeal to lots of different palates! It's perfect for everyday sipping, for parties where you need to make lots of folks happy, and with or without food.
  • The texture is downright luscious without losing freshness and nerve. The wine sees aging in neutral French oak, which adds to the silky smooth palate.
  • It smells just as good as it tastes. Ripe peach, apple, nectarine, flowers, and spice are present in the bouquet and on the plush and vivacious palate.
  • Enjoy this brilliant value with spicy Szechuan, Thai, or Indian dishes. Also great with crab cakes, scallops, and other richer seafood dishes.

A great all-around white that will please lots of palates, it's a great alternative to Pinot Gris, unoaked Chardonnay, and other crisp yet textured white wines.
