Vincent Ricard's Le Petiot Touraine Blanc has been a fixture in the shop since we opened in 2010. I love it every year, but the 2024 straight up tastes like Sancerre, and it is the best vintage of this Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc we've ever stocked!
Flowing with pure aromas and flavors of Bosc pear, melon, citrus rind, and mineral, it glides across the palate with the integrated acidity of a Sancerre.
It should come as no surprise that Vincent's wines are on dozens of Michelin-starred restaurants worldwide. He is a meticulous grower who works with old vines planted on rocky hillsides, and all of the vines are farmed organically and biodynamically. In the cellar, he ferments with native yeasts, and he ages a portion of this wine in older, neutral oak barrels to provide that exquisite texture that really makes this wine stand out.
I'm sure you've noticed that Sancerre prices have gotten ridiculous, and it's hard to find a worthy one for less than $30. Trust me, I've tasted a number of Sancerres over the past couple of months, and most of them don't hold a candle to this wine. I know Sancerre is quite chic at the moment, but its popularity has driven up demand and prices, but that has come at the expense of quality.....
Trust me, the quality is sky high in the 2024 Ricard Le Petiot, and it is so expressive of grape, place, and grower.
